Let’s not beat around the bush. The whole business model in the music industry is sinking. You can watch my free video training here and see why it’s basically impossible for small musicians to hope to make a living selling music alone – and even when they are making livings purely from music sales, they might be famous as all get up, but they’re earning less than the guy bagging their groceries.
What I’m essentially promoting as an “alternate” music paradigm is that musicians need to stand for something — the difference between a one-hit wonder and an artist that sticks around is that a one-hit wonder is essentially single-faceted: we like their music, and that’s it. Artists that stick around are able to carve out a niche for themselves – they stand for / mean something in audience’s minds.
And here’s where it gets interesting for me… I think that’s where artists need to be monetising. Music is incidental — but their values and lifestyle are what their audiences are really buying into. Which, I believe is one of the biggest reasons why Merch has always been the money-honey hole of this industry, it’s the one place where fans can come and literally take with them, and enter into the lifestyle and value of the artists they love.
But I think that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I think there’s so much more — artists should be monetising those values in other interesting ways that brands are only starting to discover in the business world – and nobodys doing in the music industry. I think they should be “endorsing” affiliate products connected to the lifestyle they use (obviously in ethical ways), amongst other things.
I think the artists that make it in this coming century are going to be those who are creative and intelligent in how they craft their identities with audiences, and monetise those identities in ways that audiences don’t mind (and enjoy!) – it’s already not a question of talent in the present system, plenty talented artists don’t make it, and at least a handful of ‘less-talented’ artists do, because of luck, and a bunch of other factors.
I think marketing properly is the only hope for artists take any kind of control over their career going forwards.
If you’re an artist right now you need to know key 3 things:

(1) to work out where to start marketing. The reason 99% of artists don’t do anything with their careers is they don’t market themselves. And the reason they don’t do that, is they don’t know where to start – or what to do.
(2) to learn how to implement those clever theories into real actions. It’s all good to know that you need a website or a twitter. It’s another thing to know how to build a great website, or what to do to get fans once you’re on twitter.
(3) support and community to help you along, to push you through the lonely, hard times and help you make it, and to share the victories in the sweet times. To share field reports, and discuss problems and breakthroughs, to ideas, and solve problems together. Without a community going through the same things you are, it gets real lonely out there at the front, real fast.
I’m going to be your coach through all of this. I’ll hold your hand, and work you through all of it, and help you get set up online. That’s my job. Your job is to take it all in, and make it happen.
Here’s how we’re going to answer those needs:
1. The course. I’ll tell you exactly what’s in it in a minute. But for now, just know it’s 11 DVDs worth of content, but you don’t get that all in one go so it suffocates you. You get one module every 2 weeks – so it’s manageable, and it’s set out at exactly the right pace for you to pick it all up and actually go out and implement and master it. That’s what this is about, you taking control of your music career and really mastering this stuff.
2. The community. A supportive friendship circle filled with musicians, marketers and managers at all stages in their careers with advice, moral support, ideas and energy to share. We need that community – and those opportunities for cross-pollination and working together. There are forums, and it’s a warm, helpful community “by the people, for the people”.
3. The cutting edge – interviews with gurus, the bleeding edge analysis and insight on whats working right now, and how you can exploit it. If something happens out there, I want you to be first to know and take advantage. And obviously although I don’t think my free content is slack, the real gems I keep for members inside.
I want to give you all of that. The regular cost is $47 a month, but I want you to get started and try this out right now and see if it’s for you.
So I’m offering, a HUGE Special (I’ve never done this before!). It will only cost you $29 – which will buy me about half a pizza for my efforts, and it might set your music career on fire. Fair?
Let’s talk about the course first, because this is what’s going to really kick off your growth.
It covers the four big puzzle pieces:
(1) How to develop a “brand identity” and ideas and content that goes viral. How to pick out the right people who are gonna set your message on fire and tell the world about it. It’s an art.
(2) How to use social media to build fanbases – how to connect all the social media networks in the right ways to get the most impact and synergy out of them, and get the right fans who love what you’re doing. The way you put your social media together and link it all up and use each medium is CRUCIAL in this mix to your success
(3) How to crush it on each each of those social media. In depth tips and tricks and strategies, there’s so much good content here, and its not just for beginners, even super advanced users will learn something on each medium. There’s literally 1 and a 1/2hrs on each of the major social networks and how to best use them, about 9hrs total)
4) Setting up and managing a fan community, running a mailing list, and monetising fanbases effectively. We have 13 specific ways, some of which I’ve never seen anyone else in the music space using yet, so that’s quite exciting.
You’re going to learn exactly how to market your music online – how to build and make money from a fanbase, especially in creative ways that haven’t taken hold in most of the music industry, yet. You’ll learn the exact model – how to connect social media synergistically – the big deal with social media isn’t just having them. It’s the connections you make between them; how you drive traffic from one to the next to the next.
(Think how the big media companies in real life do it – they never JUST advertise on TV. And it’s never different messages on radio than it is on TV. Sure it’s a different creative delivery, but it’s the same message, tailored to the strengths of the medium. But we mess this up ALL THE TIME online. I’ll show you exactly how to put them together in the right ways to make the absolute most of everything out there.)
See, I want you to understand something about marketing online. Most of what you’ve been taught about marketing music online is competely wrong. It’s not about using as many creative ideas as you can and throwing them all together. It’s about using the right things in the right ways, synergistically, and systematically. And you’ll see consistent and sustained growth if you do things that way. The power of 3 great ideas executed in synergy is always gonna be greater than 33 ideas jumbled together.
You’ll learn exactly where to start, how things fit together, the right way that’s perfectly geared for getting fans and making sales right now – that’s the key here: synergy in tying things together the right ways – and the exact process you’re going to be using to take someone from a random social media user to a follower on one network, to a fan of your work across networks and media, and into an immediate buyer, someone who’ll stick by you and consistently buy your stuff and pay money for what you’re selling. AGAIN, without ever being hypey, or pushy, or salesy or rude. And it’s a process – if you get social media and the web right, it’s a process, and you draw people into your funnel, and slide them down the slippery slope to falling in love with you, supporting you and buying your stuff and evangelising your message out to the world. You’ve just got to put things together in the right ways though.
Ok, so I want you to have a quick look at that model. It looks a little intimidating when you first see it – don’t worry I explain all of that. Right now though, I want you to see how there’s 3 distinct areas in the model. There’s area 1 (blue), our “fan finding” area where we target and collect fans to join us; these media are MADE for you to make quick, easy connections and get involved with new people who share your likes.
Then we drive them through to area 2 (red), our “relationship building” space. These media are made for you to share your life with people and to build solid online relationships. When you tie them together right, you can do that very quickly too.
Finally we drive visitors from those networks where they’re signed up with us right on over to our monetisation area (green). Get them on our blog and email list and capture those leads, and we can now actually sell to them knowing we’ve build real relationships with them, and they actually love and want what we’re doing.
Now I’ll take you through each of those networks and show you how they fit together, you can’t just send traffic from facebook anywhere, there are specific ways that you’ll see MUCH better returns, and you’ll see people coming through your funnel. You’ll learn the ROLES of each different medium – when and why we use Twitter and Myspace and YouTube and so on (You CAN’T use Facebook to do Twitter’s job, for instance – and if you do, you’re going to struggle…) . And what each of those mediums are achieving for us, each of them is better at some things than others. And then we go through a bunch of sneaky tieing-together tricks to maximise that success.
Then you’re going to learn branding… This is where we’re going to cover:
(1) the exact right fans for you and your music – who to target to get people who will be avid fans of you and what you’r doing, and also finding people who are avid spreaders of your message, and,
(2) exactly how to position yourself in the market to attract them and make the most of your particular strengths and differentiators.
And that’s really all-important, because you can go out and promote yourself without any kind of creative plan, and you’ll do better than nothing just for having done something, but when you use these techniques and you can apply this kind of hard core strategy to execute your creatives with, you are gonna see this supercharge everything you’re doing. Because again, this is all about synergy and a strategy – this time on a creative level.
BONUS: You’ll also get my material on creating viral content. Which is really at the heart of music marketing, because that’s exactly the thing you need most – is getting other people to spread you, and spread your content and build your celebrity FOR YOU. I teach you all about how to do that and get that happening for, from engineering your brand identity to getting fans, to getting them to spread you, to actually making money from that…
Next we cover each major medium – not just the theory and the ‘What’ but also the action, and the ‘How’… we move through each of the major social media platforms and you’ll learn all the big rules, do’s and don’ts, and the major how-to’s, everything from how to start out on the platform and choreograph your presence, through to some pretty advanced tactics only major label bands have been doing because until now they’ve been too difficult for guys like us on a budget. I’ll show you how to do almost everything free, or at least give free alternatives.
You’re also going to get exposed to some ninja stuff that literally only a handful of the world’s best marketers are using, and just about nobody in the music industry is using. So if you’ve got the problem of “how do i grow my fanbase and get more followers”, this is where we’re going to address it…
Module 3 – Twitter Mastery, 4 – Facebook Mastery, 5 – Blogging Mastery, 6 – YouTube Mastery, 7 – MySpace Mastery — Boom, boom, boom – those are the five BIGGIES. Get those five core areas right and you’re well on your way. You’re gonna get really into it all with the sneaky tricks and all the sneaky stuff in each medium, so you can really get those 5 cores down, on both a fundamentals level, and mastery level with dexterity and panache! I’ll give you a bit more idea what’s in those modules in a minute, hang on.
Then we hit Bookmarking (Module 8), which is just sooo important in the spiderweb, networking aspect of everything we do – if you’ve got your 5 cores down, this is what’s gonna absolutely turbo-charge everything. If you get this right it’s not gonna improve your game 10%, 50% or even 100%, you’ll be like 100 or 1000 times more effective than if you didn’t get it. It’s the nitro in your engine – if everything else is running smoothly, it’ll be what really kicks it all off and takes you to the next level. If your branding and content is solid, bookmarking done right has the potential to send you so many visitors, and it’s actually not that difficult if you play it right.
All right, so now we’ve got a whack of visitors, you’re cranking them through the process both in the “forced” methods using the social media processes, and you’re maximising your exposure and chances with the “unforced” methods like bookmarking. And a whole whack of those visitors are signing up and becoming fans and followers and joining your mailing list.
The penultimate module, module 9, of the training is all about setting up, connecting with and mobilising your communities, putting them together, treating them right and really growing those relationships between them and you. It’s about what to do next once you’ve got the visitors.
It’s about taking your group of followers and fans from just a 1 to 1 connection with you, and putting them into a community where they’ll develop their own life and identity, an entity you can use to fire up everything else you do, your community is your brand on the ground, it’s crucial starting block for everything else you want to spread. You’ve heard people say “relationships are your biggest asset” – well this is the bit where we turn relationships from a nice-to-have, into a real asset that you can harness to take on a life of its own and push your growth.
You’ll learn all about setting up those communities online – from the technical bits like websites, to the important “abstract” bits like how to communicate with them to get them doing what you want and influencing them, to how to use all of that to get the online press to take notice of you.
And finally, in module 10, you’re gonna learn the music marketing monetisation methods, and how to make money from your fanbase, from this mass audience you’ve collected in all the other modules and gotten together. There’s 13 established tried-and-tested methods. Plus you’ll learn all the sneaky ninja tricks, we’ve picked up and tested and a couple extra ones we’re still testing just for good measure so you’re right on the pulse…
Now you might be freaking out and thinking, “oh my no this is going to take like a hundred hours a day oh no oh no oh no” – Well that’s not true. You WILL have to do some hard work. You will have to put in the hours, but we’re talking between an hour or 2 a day. And it doesn’t have to be like a solid chunk you do like 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there as the day progresses. I know if you’re committed to your music career, you’ll be able to find that kind of time to make it successful.
But don’t worry if you’re willing to do that, I’ve made it all really easy to follow, and I’ve even drawn up a handy “cheat sheet” with a checklist of your daily, weekly, monthly activities so it’s really easy to follow and keep up with. And it’s not hard stuff to do, once you know what to do, I even give you demo videos where I do the exact stuff I tell you about right in front of you so you can watch. All you have to do is actually do it. I broke it all right down, you’re getting it drip fed to you so it’s something you can follow and keep up with and actually USE.
This isn’t some ebook or some collection of tricks you can find on the internet with a quick search. If you want that, go buy somebody’s $27 or ebook or whatever, that’s not what I sell. This is full-on video training, and it’s a LIVE training. You’ll get access to ME PERSONALLY, and you’ll have access to all the updates I release to this training as long as you’re a member, some of which we’ll even come up with together in response to your needs. (We’ve done it before, and I’ll do it again!)
OK SO THAT’S JUST PART 1 OF ALL THIS… there are still the other 2 important pieces to this puzzle.
PART 2: There’s the forums and the community. The biggest problem after lack of knowledge most musicians have in marketing their music is lack of support. There’s this serious sense of “it’s me against the world” out there for most of us. And it sucks.
Now, we don’t know where our community’s going to go yet. We’ve just started it. But what I do know is we’ve got a good few hundred musicians part of it right now, at various stages in the music careers. Some of them are living full time from their music and their big challenges are breaking into new markets and how to create the best viral content and get their fanbases together. Some of them are just starting out, who are just learning about how to build fanbases and get their social media and their careers in order. And of course there’s everyone in between.
We want to make this a place where you can come and speak honestly without having to act like you’re successful, or don’t need help, (like we often feel we need to with music industry people!), and we can share field reports on what we’ve done that worked, what didn’t and why, and exchange advice. Not to mention joke, laugh and have a good time together.
Again, I don’t know where that community is going. I’m just a part of it – and I’ll do everything I can to make it work and be awesome, but it’s up to the members of the community to decide what they’d like to do and hear about and how cool we get to make this thing. I’m just facilitating the discussion (I might know a bit about music marketing, but nobody’s got all the answers, and their collective brainpower, plus insights on black magic like songwriting that I know nothing about, is pretty awesome.)
And finally PART 3: exclusive content and interviews. Every month there’ll be one or two exclusive interviews with people in the industry, doing things we’re interested in. If you want to know more about songwriting, we’ll get a master songwriter in. If you want to know about recording, or websites, or photography, we’ll get those people in. They’ll be fun interviews (you know I like a good laugh), and highly informative.
And when you subscribe you access to stream the entire archive of those interviews (we’ve just started, so there aren’t any yet, but there will be!).
Plus, you’ll also get the best, most cutting edge articles I have. I keep the very best stuff for my members (obviously). And it’s all 100% original – there’s nobody else talking about this stuff. Sure, other music industry gurus will tell you about PR and all that, but here you’ll get the unique internet marketing and branding perspective, and bleeding edge insight and advice only I’m giving out.
For all of this, the total investment is just $29. ONCE OFF. That’s it. No recurring bills. No funny business.. You’ll get the course, you’ll get access to me and my advice, the community and their brainpower and support and you’ll get the exclusive content.
There are HOURS of content every single month for you to work through. It’s solid theory, easy-to-use how-to’s, and exclusive interviews and content. But if you don’t think it’s for you, just cancel after you’ve had a look around inside – you have nothing to lose!
AND if that wasn’t enough to really push you over the edge, and get you to take action right now, I’ve got some great news for you. Here’s the deal, every single person who buys this course, and decides to take this class will get these four bonuses – and we might add more as we go along!
Cool thing number 1, I’m going to throw in — a complete BONUS module – “Real Life” with a bunch of best practice tips and tactics that some of the best bands out there in the real world are doing RIGHT now, that are working for them, and a bunch of creative inspiration for you to develop similar ideas and initiatives for yourself and your own band’s brand and identity.
We cover stuff like how to improve your gigs and sell more there, how to get your fans more involved, how to deal with the print media and get published there; things like promoting and selling in real life, and a we throw in a smack of how to get creative with other ideas out there…
Cool thing number 2, I’m throwing in my video training on online press kits – how to make it a good one and give journalists and writers and editors all the cool stuff they need to write you up, and how to set it all out so you get more write ups and reviews. So if you’ve ever had the problem you can’t get anybody to write about you, you didn’t know how to get journalists interested in writing about you when they visit you online, we’re going to solve that here!
Cool thing number 3, You’re also going to get my “Your Persuasive Voice” hardcore audio on working out your personal direction, what you want from life and your band – all the serious goal-setting, dream discovering stuff. When you know that stuff and you see the world and your life clearly and you know what’s happening and where you’re going, we can use that to translate in your marketing and communication in ways that just communicate who you are in ways that people really respond to. Nobody likes marketing speak, and all that surface level persuasion, and you’ll go on a journey to discover your most persuasive voice for you as an individual.
And finally Cool thing number 4, How to layout and optimise your website – you’ll see dozens of real-life examples, it’s almost a solid hour of examples and how-tos to get people flowing to all your other networks and again taking action, so your site won’t be a big waste of time like most band websites – which they have because they feel they have to, it’s a checkbox on their list, but they dont know what they’re meant to get people to do with, yours is gonna get people to take action and it’s gonna get you a return on your investment out there.
Listen, I really know that Music Marketing Money System, and what we’re doing here is REALLY going to help you. And I want you to try this so bad, I’m giving you all of the content for just $29.
